I’ve reviewed a Japanese sewing book that has been translated to English before (Drape Drape), here’s another one! The title of this book is Stylish Dress Book by Yoshiko Tsukiori.

And my shopping list keeps growing. On my next trip I want to buy fabrics that are different. Fabrics I have not bought before, especially knits and linen. I’ve bought a few types of knits before, and I find that it’s still not quite easy to sew with. Or I’m just not really good at [...]

It’s Monday and time for some free Japanese sewing patterns. The free patterns for this week are from a blog called K’Handmade. The owner of the blog has a shop called K’Handmade where she sells some of her handmade items. She sells mainly bags and small goods, but check out her free patterns page for [...]

Today’s book review is a pure eye candy book. Literally! The book is Ruko’s Original Sweets made of Felt. The author is 南木裕子 (Nanmoku Hiroko). And these are her lovely creations. The sweets/cakes are all hand sewn and every piece is like a work of art.

I’m on the roll with my holiday sewing. This week’s obsession – fleece. Specifically Polar fleece. Polar fleece is actually synthetic. But it’s soft, comfortable, warm and best of all, it is cheap! According to wikipedia, the first creators of Polar fleece “intentionally declined to patent Polar fleece, thus allowing the material to be produced cheaply [...]

I’m in the midst of another holiday sewing frenzy. Last year I made snow pants (for the kids and myself), fleece pullovers, crocheted beanies and gloves and knitted scarves (for the whole family!). I once mentioned in an earlier post that I wanted to get hold of this book but it was out of stock. I finally managed to get my hands on it, and it’s good! I bought this book because I was venturing into the world of overlocking and even after playing around with my overlocker, [...]

I still have at least 80% of the fabrics I bought on my last trip to Japan, stashed away in my store room, and here I am searching for more to buy. But how can you resist this? I can’t resist cute fabrics! Sometimes I think I buy them more for myself than for my [...]

And we have a winner! Congratulations to Fay Roberts who just won herself a Cucito Autumn 2012 magazine. Fay, I will be emailing you shortly for your mailing address. Just in case you are wondering how the draw was conducted. First I cut and pasted all the comment entries into a text document. Next, I entered [...]

Today’s book review is a very cute book on make-believe felt toys for kids. The title is フエルトのごっこあそび。I went through a period of making felt food quite some time ago, as I can’t really keep my hands still even when I’m watching TV and I’m always wanting to make something. So when I discovered it [...]
