Free Patterns from K’Handmade

November 26, 2012

It’s Monday and time for some free Japanese sewing patterns. The free patterns for this week are from a blog called K’Handmade. The owner of the blog has a shop called K’Handmade where she sells some of her handmade items. She sells mainly bags and small goods, but check out her free patterns page for more projects and ideas!

The direct link to the free patterns is here. There are quite a number of free patterns. More than 20 if I counted correctly. And they are very useful daily items like key case, camera pouch, water bottle case, bags, totes, wallets etc. The coincase (middle picture on left column) is a very interesting foldable square wallet. And the camera pouch is so cute!  I love polka dots, maybe that’s why I like her work so much 🙂

Some of the patterns come with step by step pictures. Like the example above. But not all, you have to click around and explore.

The pattern download links are easily found under the photo thumbnail on the main free patterns page. Just click on the words that say [型紙DL]. As mentioned above, not all the patterns come with step by step instructions. In fact, some of them only contain the pattern and instructions in Japanese. For those of you who are more experienced, it may not be difficult to figure out. After all, sometimes all we need is the pattern. For those of you who are baffled and need help with the translations, you know who to look for! 😛

Now I need to get back to my sewing. A long list to be completed over the next two weeks. Happy sewing!

Free Pattern – Little Kitty Fleece Hat

November 19, 2012

I’m in the midst of another holiday sewing frenzy. Last year I made snow pants (for the kids and myself), fleece pullovers, crocheted beanies and gloves and knitted scarves (for the whole family!). Unfortunately, some pieces went missing, and the rest don’t quite fit anymore because the kids have grown! So this year I’m looking for quick and simple projects, that will not break my heart when they go missing in the snow.

The first thing I had to make was simple fleece jackets to act as linings inside their new ski jackets. I bought ski jacket+snow pants sets from Rakuten this year. At less than 4000yen for one set it didn’t make sense for me to make the snow pants myself. Then I ordered some fleece from fabric.com at US$4.98/yard. Fleece lining jackets are available here at outdoor sports shops, but they are waaaay overpriced.  I drew my own patterns for the jackets and I’m in the middle of taking photos of the steps, hopefully there will be a sew-along soon. 🙂

Then my hubby reminded me this morning that he wanted to buy a new beanie, I offered to sew one for him but he politely declined. I then decided to look for a fleece beanie pattern for my little girls and this is what I found!

Free Crochet and Knitting Patterns – daruma-ito.co.jp

November 5, 2012

Today’s free patterns are not for sewing, but crochet and knitting. Do you crochet and/or knit? Difficult as it may seem, I actually learnt how to do both online by watching youtube videos. I got hooked (literally) after that 😛

I had to start looking for crochet/knitting patterns today because we finally decided on our holiday plans. We’re going to Hokkaido again! I know, it’s 3 times in a row. We did think about heading to Korea instead because we heard there are some pretty nice ski resorts there too but our kids are not as accustomed to Korean food (even though we like it very much). Anyway, for last year’s trip I made a whole bunch of stuff. From snow pants to fleece pullovers, crocheted beanies and gloves, scarves for daddy and Mummy. Amazingly, we lost only one pair of mittens and one beanie. So I will need to make new ones, plus they have grown and I will need to go though our winter clothing inventory to make sure they have something to wear. Add that on to the 4 flower girl dresses (actually, 3 left to go), and I have a very busy month ahead!

October 29, 2012

Another busy week, and it’s only Monday! This week is exams week and so there is very little time for surfing and posting in the day. But finally the girls are off to bed and even though all I want to do is to kick back and watch Running Man ;P but duty calls, and I need to share my free pattern find of the day. Oh, and I also need to draft out some new patterns to finally get started on 4 flower girls dresses for my cousins wedding that’s happening in a month’s time! I have four different sizes to make!

Anyway, back to the free pattern find. Today’s free pattern is actually from an online patternshop called Patternshop Snowwing. Link and details after the jump.

Free Japanese Sewing Pattern – Sew-ing.com

October 23, 2012

Sorry for the late post. Today’s free pattern is from るんるんソーイング (Run Run sewing) http://sew-ing.com and it contains free patterns for babies, kids, adults, accessories, bags and even zakka! The homepage contains the list of projects and even though there are very few pictures on the homepage, you can use a browser translation tool to view the projects. There is also an English page, http://sew-ing.com/make/, and the projects linked from the English page also have translations in English!

Anybody needs a mermaid tail for Halloween? This is a rea life size tail – 180cm long. Scales are sewn on individually!

Most of the patterns are made out of simple geometric shapes (this one above is for a sweater – the one on the top right of the first picture)

Most of the instructions come with step by step pictures like this.

The website may not look like much at first glance because the home page is mainly text and very few pictures., but dig around and you can find lots of cute projects here. Happy Sewing! 🙂
