I have been struggling with my kids yanking the hand towels off the towel rings for a long time. Most of the time they will end up on the floor or on the wet counter, and no amount of nagging or reminders have helped. I decided that I had to do something about it. I guess I could just sew a loop or attach some velcro to it to secure it but of course I needed it to be more kawaii. 
So I started looking for free patterns to transform a plain looking towel to something cute!
I didn’t know the exact term for hanging hand towels, so it took me some trial and error and thanks to searching by images, I finally found that these are called ドレスタオル. Literally dress towels.
I found quite a number of tutorials, all pretty easy to follow with step by step photographs.
