Japanese Fabric – Muddy Works by Tomotake

October 17, 2012

Today’s fabric post is not about a fabric that I have, but rather, somthing that caught my eye recently and I wish I can get hold of it! The fabric line is called Muddy Works and it’s from the brand Tomotake. Behind Tomotake is a husband and wife team – Masahiro & Hiroko Tomotake. Both of them graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. But both worked in different fields for a couple of years till they came together and started Tomotake in 2005, and started the production of original fabric goods. You can see more of their works at their website – http://tomotake.petit.cc/

Their style is simple and mainly made up of nature inspired geometric prints.

There are many fabric designers who adopt this style, nature inspired geometric patterns, but what I really love is their very peaceful color palette. I hope to track this down on my next fabric shopping trip to Japan. There is a list of shops that stock their fabric, but only useful if you are visiting Japan. Have you seen this online? Let me know!

Love the color palate and simple designs. I have to dig around online and see how hard it would be to get in the states, if possible 🙂 Cindy
